Sleeping Lamb size and load guide
How to size a rack to your wall and a garment bag to your longest coat, with every design in one table.
A tape measure answers most of what a product page cannot. Here is how to size a rack to your wall and a bag to your longest coat, with every Sleeping Lamb design in one table.
Racks by width and load
Measure the floor you can give up, then leave a little room at each end for the wheels to turn. Count your heaviest hangers: a winter coat loads a rail faster than any shirt.

| 43-Inch Rolling Garment Rack | 43" | 63" | 150 lb |

Garment bags by length
Hang your longest piece and measure from the hook to the hem, then add a few inches. The gusset is the fold that gives a bag depth, and it decides how many pieces share one bag.

Wash or clean bedding before it goes in. The University of Kentucky’s entomologists advise cleaning woolens before long storage and packing them in tight-fitting containers.
Storing for years
Clear bags keep dust off and show you what you have, which is what a working closet needs. A wedding dress or a family piece put away for years needs something else: the Smithsonian advises against sealing textiles in airtight plastic, and University of Kentucky Extension suggests washed cotton muslin. Keep stored textiles clean, cool and dark, and store knits and heavily beaded pieces flat rather than on a hanger.
Racks in a child’s room
The federal tip-over rule covers clothing storage units with drawers or doors, such as dressers, and our racks have neither. The Consumer Product Safety Commission still advises keeping toys off anything a child might climb to reach, so set a kids rack against a wall. Dance costume bags and clear garment bags are plastic, and they belong out of a small child’s reach too.
Every figure in these tables comes from our latest catalog update, and each size and load limit is the one printed to the Sleeping Lamb spec sheet.
